Summary

NPCI's Unified Agent Protocol (UAP) is designed as a verification layer on top of existing UPI infrastructure, creating a common interoperable framework for registering, verifying, and authorizing AI agents. This contrasts with Coinbase's x402 protocol (enabling fully autonomous AI-driven commerce without human-in-the-loop), Pine Labs' P3P protocol (open-sourced agentic OAuth framework), and Visa's and OpenAI's proprietary initiatives.
